The format

What a product demo video is, and what it isn’t

A demo has one job: remove the doubt that is stopping the purchase. Everything that does not serve that is a different video.

  • It answers "how does it work?"

A demo video is not a brand film. Its only job is to show the product doing the thing a buyer is unsure about, in the order they would experience it.

  • Sequence over atmosphere

Setup, then the mechanism, then the result. A demo that reorders those to look better usually stops answering the question that brought someone to the page.

  • Motion, not a slideshow

Parts move, panels open, liquid pours, the interface advances. Product demo animation covers the shots a camera could not get — an exploded view, a cutaway, a hidden mechanism.

This sits under product video production for ecommerce catalogs, which is where the per-SKU economics are set out. The difference at this level is intent: a catalog video establishes that a product exists and looks good, a demo proves it does what the listing claims.

Fit

Who a demo video is for

It is the wrong video for plenty of products. Worth knowing which yours is before you brief one.

Worth making if

  • The product needs explaining before it needs selling
  • Returns or support tickets come from people misunderstanding how it works
  • A feature is genuinely better than the competition and invisible in a photo
  • You are launching into a category where buyers do not yet know the format exists
  • The listing has photos and specs and still converts below the rest of the catalog
  • You need the same demo cut for a paid placement, a listing module and a product page

Probably the wrong format if

  • The product is self-evident and the video would only restate the photo
  • The selling point is taste, scent or how something feels in the hand
  • You need a person on camera vouching for it — that is a UGC-style ad
  • There is no working product and no reference material to build a demo from

Included

What every demo video includes

Scripted, produced, checked and delivered in all three ratios. Nothing here is an add-on.

  • Script and shot order

We write the demo as a sequence of questions in the order a buyer asks them, then cut to that. You approve the sequence before anything is produced.

  • Production and edit

Motion, on-screen text, captions and music, finished and colour-matched to your product photography. Two revision rounds are included on every video.

  • Three aspect ratios

Every demo is delivered in 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9, so one production covers paid social, a listing module and a product-page embed.

  • Upload-ready files

Finished MP4s with full commercial rights, no watermark and no licence to renew. Length is capped by plan: 30 seconds on Growth, 60 seconds on Scale, 90 seconds on Elite.

  • A fidelity check per cut

Label text, logos, colour and shape are compared to your reference photos — and each aspect ratio is checked separately, because a pass on one cut never clears another.

  • Revisions on the sequence too

If the demo shows the right things in the wrong order, that is a revision like any other. Reordering is usually cheaper than reshooting ever was.

Process

How we produce a demo

The sequence gets approved before production starts. That one step is what keeps revisions cheap.

  1. 1. You send the product

Photos, the listing link, and the one thing buyers keep getting wrong. Support tickets and review complaints are the most useful brief we can get.

  2. 2. We write the sequence

A shot list in buyer order, not brand order. You approve it — changing the sequence here costs nothing and costs a revision round later.

  3. 3. We produce and check

Production, edit, on-screen text, then the fidelity pass against your reference photos on every aspect ratio before anything reaches you.

  4. 4. You get every format

Upload-ready files in all three ratios within 3–7 days of the approved sequence, or 48 hours with rush at $59 a video.

Product Fidelity Guarantee

Your product renders pixel-accurate to your reference photos, or the video is free and we redo it.

Every cut is checked against your reference photos — label text, logos, colour and shape — on each aspect ratio separately.

How the guarantee works

Why this way

Why we don’t shoot demos

A traditional demo shoot prices the day and the logistics. Almost none of that is the video.

  • The cost is the production, not the day

No studio, crew or day rate, so a demo is $37–$50 on a plan instead of a quote. That is what makes a second and third demo per product thinkable.

  • A revised demo is not a reshoot

Change the packaging, the interface or the order of the steps and the video is reproduced. Traditionally that meant getting the product back in front of a camera.

  • Shots a camera cannot take

Cutaways, exploded views and internal mechanisms are ordinary work here. On a shoot they need a physical cross-section of your product, or they do not happen.

Pricing

What demo videos cost

One demo is $79. On a monthly plan the per-video price drops to $37–$50, which is where multi-product catalogs and re-cuts start to make sense.

Guide

Everything to settle before you brief a demo

Length, sequence, where demos belong, and how a plan compares to commissioning one at a time.

What makes a product demo video work?

It resolves one specific doubt. Most demos fail not because they are badly made but because they are a feature list set to music — every capability given equal weight, nothing answered. The demos that convert pick the objection that actually stalls the purchase and spend their length on that.

The reliable way to find it is to read your own support tickets and one-star reviews. "I could not work out how to fit it", "it is smaller than I expected", "does this work with X" — each of those is a demo, and each is worth more than a montage of the product looking good from several angles.

Order then does the rest of the work. Show the situation before the product, then the mechanism, then the outcome. A buyer who sees the outcome first has no reason to watch the middle.

How long should a demo video be?

Short enough that the answer arrives before attention does not. In practice the demo that runs on paid placements is a different edit from the one on the product page: the first has a few seconds to establish the problem, the second is being watched by someone who already wants to know. Plans cap length at 30 seconds on Growth, 60 seconds on Scale and 90 seconds on Elite, which covers both.

If a demo genuinely needs longer, that is usually a sign it is two demos. A complicated product is better served by one video per question than by one video that answers four and gets abandoned at the second.

Demo video, explainer, or animation — which is which?

A demo shows your actual product doing its actual job. An explainer explains a concept or a service, often without a physical product on screen at all. The distinction matters commercially: a demo belongs on a listing or a product page where someone is deciding, an explainer belongs higher up, where someone is still working out whether they have the problem.

Product demo animation is a technique rather than a third category. It is how a demo shows what a camera cannot reach — the cutaway, the exploded view, the interface advancing on its own. Most of the demos we produce are part filmed-looking product motion and part animation, chosen shot by shot rather than decided up front.

What a product demo video service should cost

Published, for a start. A single demo here is $79; on a monthly plan it lands at $37–$50 a video, which is $747 for 15 videos on Growth, $1,297 for 30 on Scale and $2,197 for 60 on Elite. If you want to try the format before a plan, the Starter Pack is 5 videos for $297.

Watch what the number includes rather than the number. Three aspect ratios, two revision rounds, full commercial rights and no licence to renew are all inside the price here. A cheaper headline figure that charges per format and per revision is not cheaper by the time it reaches your ad account.

Where demos belong once you have them

The product page first, above the specifications, because that is where the doubt is. Then the listing module on whichever marketplace you sell through, and the paid placements — same production, different ratio, which is why all three are delivered together rather than quoted separately.

The fourth placement people forget is support. A demo that answers the question your inbox keeps asking reduces the tickets and the returns that follow them, and it keeps working long after the ad spend behind it has stopped.

Choosing between a demo agency and a plan

A product demo video agency priced per project is the right choice when you need one demo, made to a fixed brief, with a named director and a physical shoot behind it. Nothing about a monthly plan improves on that for a single flagship asset.

The plan wins on the second demo and every one after it. If the honest answer is that you need demos for a dozen products and re-cuts whenever the packaging changes, per-project pricing will quietly decide that you only make three of them. Month to month, no contract, and you can drop back to single videos whenever the pipeline empties.

FAQ

Product demo video questions

Cost, turnaround, animation, and how a demo differs from an ad.

What is a product demo video service?

Production for videos that demonstrate a product rather than advertise it — the script, the sequence, the motion and every aspect ratio, delivered upload-ready. With us that is either a single video at $79 or a monthly plan at $37–$50 a video, priced on the page rather than quoted.

How much does a product demo video cost?

$79 for one, $37–$50 a video on a plan: $747 for 15 videos a month, $1,297 for 30, $2,197 for 60. Three aspect ratios, two revision rounds and full commercial rights are included at every price.

How long does a demo video take to produce?

3 to 7 days from the moment you approve the shot sequence, depending on plan, with 48-hour rush at $59 a video. Approving the sequence early is what keeps that clock short.

Do you need our physical product?

No. We work from your product photos, the listing and any spec material you have. Sharp, current shots that show the packaging and label as it ships are what the fidelity check runs against — that is the one thing worth getting right before we start.

Can you animate the inside of a product?

Yes. Cutaways, exploded views and internal mechanisms are routine, and they are usually the reason a demo exists: they show the part of the product a photograph cannot reach. Send whatever you have — diagrams, packaging artwork, spec sheets — and we build the sequence from it.

What if the demo shows our product incorrectly?

It is covered by the Product Fidelity Guarantee. Label text, logos, colour and shape are checked against your reference photos before delivery, on each aspect ratio separately. If a delivered video still gets the product wrong, that video is free and we redo it.

Is a demo video different from a UGC-style ad?

Yes, and they do different jobs. A demo shows the product working and is watched by someone deciding whether it does what they need. A UGC-style ad puts a person on camera vouching for it and is aimed at someone who has not decided they want one yet. Plenty of brands run both.
