The brief
Client: Portfolio sample
The brief was a demo video for a portable power base that a compact satellite internet dish sits on. The base is a flat white battery unit with a row of charge lights and ports along one edge, and the dish locks onto it to make a single unit. The buyer already owns the dish and is powering it with whatever they have to hand.
That makes it a problem-and-solution product, and the video has to show the problem as well as the product. A packshot of a white slab says nothing about why anyone would carry it up a hill.
It also has a spec story to tell — capacity, runtime, weight and charging input — and specs are the part of a product video people skip. The numbers had to arrive one at a time, each attached to a shot that shows it.
How we made it
It opens at sunrise on a dish balanced on a pile of rocks with cables trailing across the grass, under the question “Still improvising your Starlink setup?” Then a pair of hands lowers the dish onto the base, and the line “Power + base. Together.” explains the product in four words.
The middle of the video is a run of short scenes, each carrying one spec: the unit standing on a ridge (“Stable. Ready. Off-grid.”), on a camp table (“145Wh of portable power”), behind a laptop in the open back of a van (“Up to 7 hours”, with the power draw it assumes in small print), and next to a tent (“Camp connected.”).
A shot of someone carrying the whole unit in one hand covers the weight, a close-up of the charge lights covers “Check your charge at a glance”, and a cable plugged into the side covers the 45W USB-C PD input. By the end, every number has been shown rather than listed.
It closes on the unit at golden hour with “Stop improvising” and an end card naming the product.
Worth knowing
This is a portfolio sample rather than a client order, so the production details show what a video like this takes on our current plans. At 19 seconds it fits within the Growth plan’s 30-second limit.
AMPak and its figures are invented for this sample; it is a concept product, not a real listing. The dish it is shown with is named in the on-screen text, and this sample is not affiliated with or endorsed by its maker. On client work every figure on screen comes from your own product sheet.
The video is AI-produced. Some platforms ask advertisers to label realistic AI-generated video, and a clip like this may need that label.
