The brief
Client: Portfolio sample
The brief was a product video for a rugged outdoor smartwatch: a round dark grey case with an engraved bezel, orange accents on the buttons and a black silicone strap. Sports watches are sold on what the screen can do, and a photo can only show one screen at a time.
Buyers in this category also want proof of toughness. Water resistance, a hard-wearing case and use in the mountains are claims, and a product page has to make them feel true.
Filming it for real means a mountain location, a way to show several watch screens in sequence, and water and macro work on a small, reflective object — the kind of shoot that needs a specialist crew.
How we made it
It opens very close on the engraved bezel, then cuts to the watch standing on a rock with snow-capped peaks behind it. That establishes the product and where it belongs in two shots.
The screen sequence is the heart of the video: a step counter with distance, then a GPS map with a route and elevation, then an analogue-style face. Each screen gets its own beat, so the viewer sees three features without any text explaining them.
The toughness shots come next: water drops falling onto the case in slow motion, the watch turning in the air against the sun, and an outdoor stats screen. Then it settles on a summit under “Built for adventure” and “Track. Explore. Go further.”
It closes on a dark end card with the name and “Built for what’s next”.
Worth knowing
This is a portfolio sample rather than a client order, so the production details show what a video like this takes on our current plans. At 20 seconds it fits within the Growth plan’s 30-second limit.
Volterra is an invented brand made for this sample, and the watch is a concept product. On client work the product, its watch faces and its logo are built from your own photos and checked against them before delivery.
The video is AI-produced. Some platforms ask advertisers to label realistic AI-generated video, and a clip like this may need that label.
