The brief
Client: Portfolio sample
The brief was a hero video for a gold six-point star pendant on a rope chain, with blue stones inside a clear pavé border. Jewellery is the hardest category on a listing page, because the only thing that makes a piece look expensive is the way it handles light — and a still photograph freezes exactly that.
It is also the category where buyers zoom in the most. Someone considering a pendant wants to see the setting, the depth of the colour and how the chain hangs. A single hero image sends them straight to the review photos to find out.
Shooting it for real means a jewellery specialist: a light tent, a macro lens, a turntable and hours of retouching per piece. For a catalogue where pieces come and go every month, that cost per item is the reason most listings still use one flat photo.
How we made it
The video opens on the pendant hanging still and square to camera under a single overhead spotlight, against a near-black background with a faint reflection on the surface below. Framing it head-on first gives the viewer the shape — the interwoven star, the blue inlay, the clear border — before anything moves.
It then turns. As the pendant rotates edge-on, the stones catch the light one row at a time and small star flares pop across the setting, which is the moment that reads as "this is real metal and real stones" rather than a render. Turning it also shows the thickness of the piece and how the bail sits on the chain — two details buyers ask about constantly.
It comes back round to the front and settles, holding the full view for the last couple of seconds so the closing frame is the one worth screenshotting. Fine specks drift through the dark background to keep the frame alive while the pendant is still.
The video is AI-produced: no light tent, no macro rig and no piece sent to a studio. Because the pendant is generated through the whole rotation, an editor checks that the stone count, the setting pattern and the gold tone stay consistent as it turns — small repeating detail is where AI video most often drifts.
Worth knowing
This is a portfolio sample rather than a client order, so the production details show what a video like this takes on our current plans. At 10 seconds it fits every plan, including the Starter Pack.
The piece shown here is a generated design, not a product for sale. On client work we build the video from your own photographs of the actual piece and check the setting, stone colour and metal finish against them before delivery. Some platforms ask advertisers to label realistic AI-generated video, and a clip like this may need that label.
