The brief
Client: Portfolio sample
A folding laptop stand is a product whose whole value is a transformation, and a listing built from still photographs can only show the two ends of it. There is a photo of the stand folded flat and a photo of the stand holding a laptop, and the shopper has to imagine the part in between — which is the part they are actually buying.
The questions that stop a purchase here are all mechanical. How many hinges are there. Does it lock at a height or does it sag. Is it fiddly to open. Does it hold a full-size laptop or only a tablet. Those cannot be answered by a bullet list, because every competing listing makes the same claims in the same words.
It also had to read at marketplace pace. The clip sits in the image carousel and plays without sound, so the mechanism has to be legible from the picture alone, with no voiceover carrying the explanation.
How we made it
The video opens with the stand folded flat on a light wooden desk, shot from a very low angle so the whole thing reads as a slim plate barely thicker than a notebook. That is the storage claim, made in one frame and before any words.
Hands then come into the shot and open it. The unfolding is shown in a continuous move rather than cut around: the legs swing down, the arms come up, and the hinges are visible as they travel. Keeping that in one take is the entire point of the video, because it is the thing the photographs cannot prove.
A low macro follows the deployed frame along its length, holding on the hinge and the rubberised arms. At that scale the build reads as machined aluminium rather than moulded plastic, and the contact points where the laptop rests are visible — which is what a buyer worried about scratches is looking for.
The second half puts it to work. A laptop is lowered onto the arms, then a man sits and types at it in a bright room with the screen raised to eye level, so the height and the stability are shown under load rather than claimed. The last two shots are locked-off product frames of the loaded stand on the desk, which is the composition a shopper will compare against the other listings they have open.
The video is AI-produced from the same product references throughout, so the stand keeps the same finish, the same hinge count and the same proportions in every scene, folded or open.
Worth knowing
A portfolio sample, not client work. The product carries no visible branding.
The plan and turnaround shown on this page describe what a video like this takes on our current plans. They are not the terms of a particular order.
The master is 480×854, so it plays a little softer than the 720×1280 clips elsewhere on the site.
